Businesses today are striving harder than ever to maximize the value for every dollar spent. To assist in this effort, SourceGas Energy Services (“SGES”) recently launched its Commercial Buyer Program to help Arkansas businesses examine their natural gas costs to determine if they are getting the best value for their energy investment. The program is a tool that allows businesses on those systems to compare their energy consumption and current price paid against figures for other businesses in the same sector.
After completing the comparison with their Commercial Buyer Program representative, utility managers and procurement officers can meet with a natural gas expert to develop a new purchase plan or amend an existing one. Because natural gas prices are still low compared to recent years, it is likely that businesses can save money on their gas/heating bills with natural gas from SourceGas Energy Services.
According to Peter Vint, Director of Marketing at SGES: “Small and mid-tier businesses often lack the resources of larger organizations when it comes to analyzing their natural gas usage and looking at ways to cut costs; however, by taking simple planning measures, companies could save up to 20 percent on their natural gas bills.”
A large portion of customers don’t understand how to differentiate between suppliers and pricing options, according to research commissioned by SourceGas Energy Services. Nearly one in four (23 percent) of businesses feel a lack of information or advice prevents them from doing more to improve their energy management and decrease costs. An additional 27 percent of respondents simply do not know what more they can do to reduce the amount they pay for their natural gas usage. While a majority of businesses are concerned about reducing their natural gas costs, lack of time and information seem to be the biggest barriers to adopting a new service provider.
